Emergency services remain at the scene of a serious crash on the road linking Sumner and Lyttelton.
A police spokeswoman said they attended the crash on Old Sumner Lyttelton Road and Evans Pass Road before 11pm Monday.
“Two vehicles are reported to be involved and indications are there are serious injuries.”
“The Serious Crash Unit has been notified and enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.”
Chris Lynch Media understands two vehicles collided in a high-speed head-on crash on the Lyttelton side.
Multiple ambulances and Fire and Emergency crews were called to the scene.
The road remains blocked in both directions.
A Diamond Harbour resident said at least four fire trucks, four police cars, and three St John ambulances were at the scene.
