The prestigious New Zealand Beer Awards 2024 winners were revealed over the weekend, with Christchurch’s Three Boys Brewery taking out the top award.
This year’s competition saw 700+ entries from across the country, all judged in Christchurch earlier in July.
Executive Director of the Brewers Guild of New Zealand Melanie Kees said “We’re over the moon with both the number of entries and their quality in the 2024 competition. One of the key drivers behind the New Zealand Beer Awards, apart from celebrating our exceptional local beers, is to recognise and uphold high standards.
“This year, we saw a 14% increase in the success rate for medals, with 77% of all entries receiving a medal. This is a testament to the outstanding quality of New Zealand beer, which is fantastic news for both brewers and consumers.”
Among the night’s biggest winners was Christchurch’s very own Three Boys Brewery, which was honoured with the prestigious Overall Champion Brewing Company award.
This title, which Three Boys Brewery also held in 2022, underscores the brewery’s consistent excellence and innovation in the industry Kees said.
The winners were revealed during a glittering gala dinner at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland on Saturday night.
Three Boys Brewery Misty Weed said ” it was an amazing celebration of the craft beer industry and an honour to bring the trophy back to Christchurch for another year.”
Launched in 2004, the brewery has since become a cornerstone of the New Zealand craft beer scene.
Three Boys Brewery entered 12 beers into the awards and walked away with 12 medals (5 golds, 4 silver & 3 bronze) as well as a trophy for their Raspberry Gose.
