Christchurch’s only 24 hour surgery is being forced to close its doors for eight hours tonight due to staff shortages.

From midnight tonight until 8am tomorrow morning, the 24 Hour Surgery will be fully closed.

As a result, the surgery may need to close to new patients during the evening and will update its Facebook page and Healthline when this occurs.

The surgery on Madras Street in the central city said “in an emergency call 111. If you need urgent care please call Healthline on 0800 611 116 or visit Christchurch Hospital ED.

The 24 hour surgery was forced to close its doors for the first time in early July due to high demand.
