A 14-year-old girl was behind the wheel of a car that smashed into a parked car in Christchurch last night.
Emergency services were called to Idris Road in Fendalton at 10.25pm Monday.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said three vehicles responded.
A resident, who lives outside the scene of the crash, told Chris Lynch she was one of the first people to help the injured driver.
“I attended with a couple of other people across the road from my home until the ambulance, fire, and police arrived.”
“The driver, a 14-year-old girl, had not been wearing a seat belt.”
“She had a back and neck injury and was having multiple seizures. The two passengers were running and screaming from the car.”
“One had hand lacerations from exiting the smashed windscreen.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed the occupants of the car, including the driver, and two passengers were teenagers.
The driver was assessed as having a potentially serious injury and was transported to hospital.
The two passengers suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital.
Idris road was blocked off.
