A 22 year has died following a serious crash at the intersection of Halswell Road and Aidanfield Drive.

The crash, which involved one vehicle and two motorcycles, was reported to police at 6.45pm.

The man died at the scene. 

Another man has been transported to Christchurch Hospital with serious injuries.

A resident who lives across the road from the crash said he saw paramedics trying their very best, performing CPR.

Halswell Road remains closed while Serious Crash Unit investigates.

Diversions are in place, motorists are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays.
