“Talented arborist, mentor & friend” tributes for much loved man who died in Hagley Park accident

Tributes and condolences continue to flood in for Max Freudenberg, a talented arborist who tragically lost his life on Monday while working on a tree in Hagley Park, Christchurch.

The incident, described as a devastating accident, has left his friends, colleagues, and the local arborist community in shock and mourning.

One friend said “Max was a talented arborist, mentor and friend that never got to return home on Monday.”

Another friend and work colleague James Murphy expressed his grief and appreciation for the support received through a Give A Little page.

James said, "It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to a dear friend and colleague, Maximillian."

He said, “Please know that your kindness and thoughts are very appreciated as we navigate this heartbreaking tragedy.”

James said people had reached out and asked how they can help during this difficult time.

“To those of you, if you can, we kindly ask to donate funds toward the funeral service, for family expenses as his parents are traveling from Germany, and to set up a trust for Max's beautiful son.

By Saturday, over a hundred people had donated more than $12,000 the Give A Little page.
