New Brighton Library closing for 7 weeks for make over

New Brighton Library is closing for seven weeks while Christchurch City Council gives the interior a much-needed refresh.

The library is closed from Monday 25 September until Sunday 12 November.

Salt on the Pier café will remain open as normal, although visitors won’t be able to enter via the main library foyer.

When the doors reopen on Monday 13 November, visitors will find the layout has been updated, the carpet and floor tiles replaced, a new paintjob, soft furniture, LED lighting and window treatments, and a refresh of the foyer bathroom.

During the closure, reserved items will be made available to collect from Parklands Library unless otherwise requested. Items cannot be returned to New Brighton Library during this period, but can be returned to any other library across the city network.

The mobile library will visit New Brighton throughout the closure period. See the schedule here.

For those wanting to find the nearest alternatives, they are Parklands Library at 46 Queenspark Drive and Aranui Library at 109 Aldershot Street.
