More than 2500 without power in Christchurch and Bank Peninsula

More than two and a half thousand customers lost power on Monday night in Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

Akaroa, Flea Bay, Stony Bay, and Takamatua lost power at 10.20PM.

Orion said power lines were down due to high winds.

Crews were out restoring power overnight.

Over 550 homes lost power in Belfast, Brooklands, Chaneys, Kainga, LV Circuit, Marshland, Ouruhia, Papanui, Redwood, and Spencerville due to high winds.

Governors Bay, Marleys Hill, Rapaki were also without power.
