Fire crews called to multiple weather related incidents overnight


Fire and Emergency crews were called to multiple weather related incidents across Christchurch overnight.

Power remains cut off for Little River, Okuti Valley, Peraki Bay, Robin Hood Bay, Te Oka Bay on Tuesday morning.

Orion said “we have lines down and damage due to high winds.

Our crews are out restoring power as quickly as possible.”

Fire crews were called Hereford Street just after 8.15PM on Monday, after a fence fell on top of a vehicle with a person inside.

The person was uninjured.

At 7.30PM crews were called to Flemington Ave in North New Brighton after a skylight was blown into a property because of strong winds.

A tree smashed into a house on Stapletons Road in Richmond, and powerlines were down on Penguin Street in Southshore.

Powerlines were also down on several streets in Aranui.

A hedge fire was threatening a property in Southbridge in Selwyn.
