Children punched by youths near Riccarton Mall

There’s been another violent incident involving youths at Riccarton.

A resident told Chris Lynch he was sitting at the Fox and Ferrett restaurant on Saturday afternoon when 12 youths aged between 12 and 15 walked past ranting.

“We watched them walk to the corner of Riccarton Road and Rotherham Street, then wintessed them start punching four kids who were justing walking past, without provocation.

I intervened, confronting the main offender who hit a kid multiple times in the head outside Coffee Culture.

He appeared to be a kickboxer and must train at a Thai Boxing school I think.”

A police spokeswoman said they were notified by members of the public of a group of youths causing a disorder around 4:45pm on Rotherham Street.

“One person was reported to have some injuries although ambulance was not required to attend.

Police spoke with those remaining at the scene when they arrived.”

Westfield Mall management has never replied to Chris Lynch Media followings requests for comment on previous and similar incidents, nor has Westfield’s Australian parent company Scentre Group Limited.
